Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D-Day_(military_term)

包含了deliverance /dɪˈlɪvərəns/ DJ /dɪ'lɪvərəns/ KK
  • the state of being rescued from danger, evil or pain 解救;拯救;解脫 noun uncountable~ (from sth) formal

The terms D-Day and H-Hour are used for the day and hour on which a combat attack or operation is to be initiated. They designate the day and hour of the operation when the day and hour have not yet been determined, or where secrecy is essential. For a given operation, the same D-Day and H-Hour apply for all units participating in it.

When used in combination with numbers, and plus or minus signs, these terms indicate the point of time preceding or following a specific action. Thus, H−3 means 3 hours before H-Hour, and D+3 means 3 days after D-Day. (By extension, H+75 minutes is used for H-Hour plus 1 hour and 15 minutes.)

而非如朱所言D-Day+1、D-Day+2

還有"A-Day", "L-Day","X-Day" ,"Y-Day" 呢

For example, Douglas MacArthur's invasion of Leytebegan on "A-Day", and the invasion of Okinawa began on "L-Day". The Allies proposed invasions of Japan that would have begun on "X-Day" (the plan to invade Japan)(on Kyūshū, scheduled for November 1945) and "Y-Day" (on Honshū, scheduled for March 1946).

Visa-free access for Taiwanese visitors to the UK from 3 March 2009

Visa-free access for Taiwanese visitors to the UK from 3 March 2009

09 February 2009
The British Trade & Cultural Office (BTCO) today announced that from 3 March 2009 Taiwan passport-holders who wish to visit the United Kingdom for less than six months on business or as a tourist, family visitor or student visitor will no longer require a visa.
Those wishing to stay in the UK more than six months, or to live, work, marry or study there on courses over six months, will continue to require a visa as before.

The decision announced today is based on the world-wide review of visa regimes carried out by the UK Borders Agency in 2007-08.

“Britain enjoys strong commercial and cultural ties with Taiwan”, David Campbell, the BTCO’s new Director said. “Lifting the visa requirement for stays of less than six months will help to build on that to the benefit of both British and Taiwanese people.”

Taiwanese visiting the UK after 3 March 2009 must still satisfy UK authorities at the port of entry that they meet the admission requirements on arrival in the UK. As with all those who can visit the UK without a visa, they must carry with them in their hand luggage relevant supporting documents such as flight tickets, evidence of funding, letters from sponsors or businesses they are visiting, or the school they plan to study at.
The BTCO received over 28,000 visa applications in 2008. After 3 March 2009, that figure is expected to fall to 6-8,000 a year.
